Introduction of
Msc-programme on Extension Service
Structure
shift in agrarian sector of economy cased of reconstruction of the Russian
economy as a whole, brought to the necessity of the considerable changes in
the agricultural research and education systems. One of the main directions of
the agricultural reform is changing of the relations between agricultural
research, education and farmers. Agricultural Extension service is considered
to be a tool of their interaction.
The
process of introduction of the Agricultural Extension Service is complicated by
the lack of the specially educated consultants. The
project
is
devoted
to
solving
this
problem.
The
main task
The
introduction of Msc-programme on Extension Service in the Moscow Timiryazev
Agricultural Academy (MTAA)
The
main results are following:

A
post-graduate (MSc) programme on Extension Service has been introduced in
MTAA
|
|
Newly
developed and adapted study courses are used at Msc level
|
|
Study
materials have been provided for the new courses, including two new modules
|
|
The
academic staff has been trained to teach new modules in the SAC
|
|
A
new specialization on Extension has been introduced at the Department of
Economics of MTAA;
|
|
A
new Department of Information and Consulting Technologies in Agribusiness (Extension)
has been established in MTAA
|
|
A
new text-book on the main principles of Extension activities has been
written by the academic staff of the new Department and published
|
|
New
teaching/learning methods have been introduced
|
|
More
close links have been established with the other
Agrarian
University
and the Ministry of
Agriculture and Food
|
|
Close
collaboration has been established with the WB ARIS project, Tempus-Tacis
(JEP-10738, CP-20501, CD-JEP-21111-2000 and others).

|
The
International network of the leading
Agrarian
Universities
from CIS countries and
MTAA has been created in the field of the Extension Staff training.

Information about accreditation
of the results
A
curriculum of the MSc-programme on the Extension Service has been introduced,
the admission procedure has been set. There were two graduations (2001 and 2002)
of 34 MSc students.
A
specialization on Extension Technologies has been introduced in the existing
curriculum at the Faculty of Economics.

new courses were developed and introduced in the curricula:

Consulting
methods in the economic evaluation of the technologies on farms.

the Extension Service” and “Business-planning and analysis of the
investment projects”.
